  1. The Passivhaus principles as a holistic approach to sustainable homes is very commendable. However, on wider sustainability issues there is a distinct need for us to accept fundamental changes to familiar freedoms and standards of comfort. Eg., need to review design air changes per hour in homes and offices (with heat recovery as standard), outlawing excessive lighting in shops and public places particularly in broad daylight, and the hugely costly conflict between heating and refrigeration in supermarkets.

    Who is brave enough to start undoing what it has taken the best part of a century to accumulate?

  2. It took us 6 years, blocked at 13 potential sites, obstructed by the local planning authority, and nearly lost our funding. 5 of those years in temporary accommodation. Yet finally we did it as pictured above, just above “Product News”. Not bad for a tiny charity of disabled people was it. So, if we can do it, where is the problem? Come and see us. 600 metres from Rochford Station on the Liverpool Street Line to Southend.
