  1. In my experience a GMP will only stand up if no changes are made to the original scope of a contract. In reality many clients don’t understand exactly what they’re getting anyway, resulting in the GMP going down the pan because they introduce changes. GMPs are also vulnerable in situations where the design turns out to be defective and / or unknown issues arise such as uncertainties associated in renovation, alteration and refurbishment contracts.
